Team Friday – Enough is Enough

Okay… enough is enough. I have been feeling better again for about four weeks, I am now ready to start exercising again.

I have been so worried about being tired that I haven’t been doing much {I have had a bit of thyroid/adrenal shutdown thingy-me-bob}, but, the time has come where I need to just get on with things.

The Gold Coast Marathon Weekend has just been. A few years ago, I was fit enough to actually run the half marathon at that event! I can’t believe it, but I was. So… one year from now, I am going to be fit enough to run it again.

When I ran that half marathon, I slipped on a cup at the 16km mark, hurt my ankle and had to walk in the last 5km. It was not a good way to finish. I vowed that I would do it again. But, then I had BabyCool. I was due to be ready to run it this year, before my thyroid started playing up and my adrenals were in chaos.

But – I am feeling better again. I am now so aware of how soft my middle has become and how unfit I am, I do not like it. I remember so clearly that feeling of running: the cool air, the sound of my feet on the pavement, my heart beating hard. I loved it.

So, on this Team Friday link in, I am saying ‘Enough’. Enough resting. Enough taking it easy. Enough being soft in the middle and enough 0f being self conscious of my shape.

It is time to get strong.

It is time to get fit.

It is time to get into shape.

Bring it.

  2. Good for you!! You’ll do it. It’s great having done it before because you KNOW you can do it again. I’ve just started back again too, to get ready for the Sunshine Coast.

  3. I know what you mean Belinda. Since the school holidays, I’ve taken a ‘holiday’ from everything. Eating well, cooking, exercising. It’s just so hard with the kids. Mine are getting too old for the creche at the gym and the weather last week was horrendous, all of us were sick (can you see the old pattern of excuses forming again LOL). Back to business as usual next week, although I coughed up half a lung already this morning so I’ll ease into it I think.

  4. Good on you girlfriend!! Sometimes we just have to put our foot down with ourselves and not take anymore!! Can’t wait to see u achieve this!

  5. Hello! Great that you are feeling well enough to get back into some exercise, hope you can ease into it slowly and enjoy the process of getting fit again.

I am so impressed that you did a half marathon- wow! I’m going to do the City to Surf for the first time this yea, I think it’s 13k but will be walking it with a friend… and that’ll probably exhaust me… actually no, it’ll be OK and I am sure I’ll really enjoy it.

After a week of eating out and drinking every day… I need to get a grip again! My kids never eat well when we’re away, the little ones anyway, so it’s been all good stuff yesterday and today… and for me too!
