Coloured jeans are so IN for Spring! I am loving seeing some colour in stores again. I also love the way that there is no such thing as too much colour – Spring and Summer 2012 is going to be so fun!
A few friends have told me how they really don’t think that they will be wearing the bright colours of Spring, and that is fine. But, I thought I would put together a look book of how you can wear coloured jeans – without looking like you are in the Justin Bieber fan club…
The key is to choose co-ordinating colours and then add accessorise. In each of these fashion snapshots, I have included some tips you can use to help you to navigate through the minefield of colour that is out there.
I have added two tops to each set to give you more of an idea of cut and styles of tops to wear with the jeans…
Now, I have not talked about the CUT of the jeans, this is an area that I do not feel qualified to speak about. I think the perfect pair of jeans is a treasure you will have to find for yourself. I personally, can’t seem to wear cheap jeans, I need some expertise behind the design of the jeans to get around my … um… unusual shape. So… if you find your perfect pair at Target you are a lucky, lucky duck {with extra cash to splash on accessories!}
Let’s start with…
Pink!
I am not a ‘pink’ kind of girl, but I have to say that I have seen a few pairs of pink jeans around, and I really love it! I would team hot pink with navy… not so much black, but you certainly could. In this set I have added touches of green to contrast and break up the solid colours. I think it looks fresh and fun and ready for anything.
Yellow!

When I look through the google searches that land people on my blog, ‘Yellow Jeans’ has been right up there for months, since I wrote ‘Keep Calm & Wear Yellow’ – crazy! Yellow is happy and friendly and… a bit hard to wear… BUT, if you had yellow jeans, you could easily put together an outfit that screams cool, calm and collected. I have teamed the yellow jeans with dark blue and red. I love this outfit!
I also love chiffon tops, I have had a few over the years. What I love about chiffon is that you pop a tank top or camisole under neath and you then create movement, which in turn tricks the eye and you can appear slimmer…. I love that! Just make sure you colour match the layers, so don’t wear white under a dark blue top, wear dark blue… Make sense?
I love the pops of red in this set, the third colour really adds interest….
Green!

Animal print is really hot at the moment, so why not team it up with some coloured jeans? I have added zebra print with green jeans and added touches of orange to the set. When wearing multiple colours, it does help to know a bit about your colour wheel. Green and orange are both secondary colours, so they kinda work well together.
The two tops here are very different, but both have the zebra thing going on… The scoop neck T-shirt would work well for those with a larger bust and a flatter stomach {like my big sister}, the detail at the top takes the attention away from the volumous cleavage {which only someone with a larger bust would understand ;o)}. The top on the right would be great for someone like me who would like to hide the ‘I have had three children and like cake’ tummy. It floats down and skims over the waiste adding length to the torso – helpful {I would wear a tank under this top though, just because I am a layering kind of girl…}
Blue!

This is my favourite outfit of this look book… I love the blue and the green and teamed with the beige I think it is preppy and grown up and modern and all things good… I think beige is a great little colour that can tone down any bright coloured outfit. Teamed with the cobalt blue and the fresh forest green gives a modern edge to a classic blazer too. I am going to be popping into some op shops this week on the hunt for a beige blazer… Yes… I think that is this week’s project!
Well, my dear friends who are concerned about wearing coloured jeans, I hope that I have inspired you to re-think coloured jeans for spring. Traditional blue denim will ALWAYS be in, but these cute coloured numbers are not always going to be… Jump on it for a fresh little boost to your spring wardrobe!
Here are the links to Polyvore, incase you would like to see where you can pick up some of these items. This week, I paid attention to how much things were… It would appear I have expensive taste! Within this look book we have Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Max & Chloe Jewellery and many other expensive treasures! BUT - these lookbooks are to inspire… I certainly won’t be buying the exact items listed here, but rather keeping an eye out for great items that will work for my wardrobe…

I love them all especially the blue and green which I have been wearing since last spring. I have purple, red and blue coloured jeans and have lived in them this winter, wondered if the trend would stick around long enough to add a spring/summer 3/4 coloured or just stick with the long ones…

I think that bright colours are around for a while… I must confess, I don’t have any! Will fix that soon though!
Thanks for visiting, lovely to see you here!
Hey, I was just about to go shopping for some coloured jeans. /thanks for the inspiration!

Yay! Let me know what you picked out – I am dreaming of green….
I really want red…… But the green is pretty….. I love white jeans (I know it’s not a colour) very excited to them starting to come into the shops this year (could not find the last year at all!)
Oooh – white LOOKS great – but with small children, I couldn’t!
I like the thought of red, but think I will break out and go for green, blue or yellow {or all of the above!!}
I do love jeans, I really do.
Fabulous B! If you spot a pair that suit a big bottom…let me know! PS. The pastel ones currently in Country Road do NOT suit a big bottom.
Yes, Country Road do make narrow clothes… Not at all suited to those of us with ‘shape’… I find Esprit and Jag the best for my big butt. I am going to try some on at Target, which is totally optimistic – I have never had much luck with them in the past. But, a girl has to try….
ohhhhh this is FAB!!! and what great timing – i bought a grape coloured pair today (i really need Adam to confiscate the credit cards during work hours, seriously becoming an issue!) and im slightly scared, slightly excited. Im beginning to love colour xx

Yay! Good for you – but not so much for your credit card. I have just decided I am going to layby some in my fave colours and desired size and run my butt off as I pay off the layby! I think that could just be the motivation I need! Grape… hmmm… that would look great with beige, navy, black… Yes… very nice!
I am a recent convert to the world of coloured skinny jeans. I love them now.
This post has helped me create some imaginary outfits based around the colours I’m lusting over
cheers

Yay! Cool – so glad my messing around with Polyvore is helping someone. I will tell Mr Cool this next time he sighs because I am getting frustrated that I just can’t find earrings to match the blue jeans!
I am going out tomorrow to buy myself some yellow jeans. On sale at Target for $31 at the moment! I think it might be my consolation prize for having to spend a day at home with a slapped cheek syndrome Boyo!
Great tips!

Ahhh, slap cheek… A teacher’s nightmare… And parent’s nightmare for that matter…
I am going to scope out the Target ones too… maybe after my haircut tomorrow… I am thinking yellow, green or blue…
I have some red jeans that are my new favourites! I need to wear them more!
I am such a red girl… But, I am going to try to break out and go for a different colour. {Which I will then regret and have to go and buy red ones… }
Thanks for stopping by!
Wow! I love the color combination. It’s stylish and makes you confident! Beige and Blue are cool ones!
Thanks for stopping by!
Great post! Well done. You’re really nailing this fashion stuff. Love it.
If only my wardrobe reflected it also… Le Sigh #firstworldproblem
I admit I bought my first pair last week, and my second pair on the weekend! I am not a “colour” type person. I’m typically jeans/black/beige and the most “colour” in my wardrobe is a bright blue shirt I never wear. Anyway, I paired my bright blue jeans up with a white tank, gold sweater/shrug/cardi thing, gold sandals and a gold watch/chain I was left by my grandmother. You can check out a pic on my latest blog post about turning 34! The other outfit I got is a rusty red jean and a couple of navy tops – one plane one patterned. Pics to come! http://coloursofsunset.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/photo-1.jpg

Heck yes, show us how it’s done B! This will save me writing this post as I get SO many requests for how to style coloured jeans, now I’ll just share your link. HA. {lazy blogging at its best!} I cannot wait to get mint green and hot pink. Then my wardrobe will be complete. Coloured jeans wise.

I love that you added that last sentence… so funny! I am on the quest to find some coloured jeans, so far… no luck! {Mind you I am about to get back in to running so a bit reluctant to buy some when I just hope that in a few weeks, I will be down a size – gotta get back in to shape – it is driving me mental!}

Again, loving the blue with the beige. Damn you make me want to go shopping! There is not enough colour in my wardrobe! But I did recently purchase a pair of purple skinny cords that have been rocking my world
