Fashion: Inspired by the Peacock: Green & Blue

I am so excited that Spring 2012 is going to be BURSTING with colour. Gone are the browns and the greys of winter and in comes the colour! I also love that it is not just colour but it is the combinations of colour that is essential.

Which brings us to peacocks. So beautiful and elegant. It is the colour combinations of these lovely birds that have had me dreaming… Blues and greens in perfect harmony.

I have put together a look book of peacock inspired outfits. I am also dreaming of lots of Summer Parties and reasons to wear pretty things. So… check the RSVP and pop on over to my place for a Peacock inspired party.

Inspired By Peacock - Impromptu Casual

Summer barbeques or casual get togethers are lovely. Choose a relaxed outfit of cobalt tailored shorts with a peacock t-shirt and vintage bag. It is essential that you add green/turquoise  somehow, try adding shoes and some jewellery. So fresh and cute!

Inspired by Peacock - Kid's Party, Casual, Fun

Coloured jeans are SO in right now! Here are some aqua skinny leg jeans teamed with a flowy tunic style shirt in deep blue. The accessories really make this outfit pop. I love Melissa shoes – if you have never heard of this brand – you really need to check them out. Very cool.

This outfit would be ideal for a heading to a child’s party, or heading to the park for a get together, or even a casual barbeque with friends. Fresh, modern and comfortable: all these boxes ticked.

Inspired By Peacock - Literal Peacock DressThis is literally a peacock dress! I love the vintage feel of it. This dress would be so versatile to have in your wardrobe {I am thinking leggings and layering for mid-season cool}. Add some cute sandals, a colourful bag and some well chosen accessories and you will look fresh, relaxed and so well put together. A great combination for a beach party, or canapes on the deck or a bbq with champagne {of course}.

Inspired by Peacock - Dressy for Garden Party, Christening etc

The fresh blue/green of this skirt is so pretty! I love this pleated retro inspired skirt teamed with a gorgeous lace top. Add some other touches of turquoise and silver and you have yourself some glamour. This is a neat little outfit for a garden party, a cocktail party or a Christening. I love the peacock necklace!

Inspired By Peacock - Make His Eyes PopHow to make your dinner date’s eyes pop? Wear a jade green sequin gown with peacock inpsired accessories. I love the little clutch bag and the peacock bracelet! So chic! Wear this to a wedding, a ball or a really special dinner date.

So which party would you like to come to?

  5. 20 years or so ago there used to be the old fashion motto of “blue and green should never be seen” (together). How times have changed! The gorgeous outfits you have put together above prove it. I can’t wait for summer now!

    • Ah, yes, these clothes are MUCH nicer than my own wardrobe! And you BOUGHT the peacock dress? That is SOOOO cool! I now need to know how expensive it is, did you buy it through Polyvore?

  9. Blue and green should ALWAYS be seen! Love the peacock look. I think it’s interesting how gorgeous the peacock is and how drab and boring the peahen is, yet they mate for life. x

    • It is so unfair that the boys in bird land are often prettier than the girls, but that does mean that they attract the attention of bird eaters… So I guess it is kind of fair…

I think that blue and green are lovely together, we see it everyday in the sky and the trees after all…

  10. Oh I love that sparkly aqua number! So pretty!

  11. Can I have one of each please? That’s the only problem with these fashion posts I read…I have NOTHING in my wardrobe and am too poor to go out and buy one of each, which is exactly what I want!

    • You and I are in the same boat Ahora! That is why I do these virtual shopping trips! So much better on the budget {although I do want to look a bit stylish when people meet me in real life!}

  12. LOVING the looks you’ve put together! Blue and green should definitely be seen! I combined red and purple last weekend and loved it. I’ll confess though, I broke it up with white. Rocking bright colours is a confidence thing I think, and I’m getting there ;-)

    • It does take practice too. Bright splashes of colour are fun, it is less daunting than thinking you have to be wearing brights from head to toe. I like to have bright scarves, earrings or shoes.

  13. Such beautiful bues! My fave outfit is the party in the park one – just what I would wear! Thanks for sharing :)

  14. I’m gonig to really, really struggle this Spring and Summer! I’m a black, black and more black kind of girl. I need to get some colour into my life and it would seem the fashion Gods are making me do it SOON lol

    • Oh, you just need to ease into. Start with a bright scarf or some fun earrings or even some bright nail polish… Then add two or three touches. Before you know it, you will be adding colour to every outfit! This is coming from a total black addict – I wear black in some form almost every day.

  15. oh!!!! Now I wish I had the $$$ for the outfits.. they are fabulous!!
