Have you noticed how much lace is in stores at the mo? Collars, bags, shoes, tops, skirts – lace is everywhere! Part of my heart is happy about this, but a part of me wonders how the heck a girl like me is supposed to wear it!
I have done some thinking and looking about and have decided that pastels is what you wear with lace. Pastels are so pretty and girly and can add a bit of sugary niceness to your Spring Wardrobe…
Check out these look books….
Pastel pink is possibly the prettiest of the pretty pastel colours… Here I have paired pastel pink jeans with a GORGEOUS lace blazer {by Modcloth.} As I ALWAYS say, it is your accessories that really lift your outfit – here we have a funky floral vintage inspired bag and some super cute beads. As with most colour combinations this year, the nude coloured shoe is where it is all at…
This lace top is just. too. cute. I have seen tops like this in many of the mainstream stores, it is essentially a t-shirt cut so it could be worn with jeans, trousers or – a divine 50s style pastel blue skirt! Oh my – so pretty! More lace is added in the brogues and then the accent colour in the accessories is pink. It is pretty, it is practical and it is soooo now!
When wearing purple the obvious accent colour is green, everyone knows that right? This outfit would be great for work or a function or even a casual wedding. The lace skirt is gorgeous, paired with a simple pastel purple cardigan and floral accents really brings it all to a whole other girliness level. I love the little flower bag and I really need to think about adding some nude coloured wedges to my wardrobe…
This lace dress is adorable, so simple and elegant. It needs only a small splash of colour to really make it all sing. I have added some pastel green touches as I just fell in LOVE with the little green bag – but finding shoes to match it was near impossible! This would be a great outfit for a wedding or a fancy dinner out or a christening…
So… there you have it, some inspiration for wearing lace & pastels… If you are wanting to go for a pretty and elegant look this spring, this is the combination for you!
NOTE: If you came looking for those ridiculously short lace shorts, you will NOT find them in this selection. We are not Tweens People!
I am off to check out how much that Blazer is – which item has taken your fancy?
If you would like to know where to buy any of these items, you can check them out here at Polyvore…

Great tips. I have looked at the lace around and baulked. And I am also having a hard time coming to term with all the pastels. I particularly like the green outfit – looks pretty classy!
Adding new colours to your wardrobe can be daunting… but… just add little bits here and there… Always push yourself a little bit out of your comfort zone {I have stolen that quote from Nikki Parkinson – I am not that brave!}
sigh.. its all so pretty. the lace, the pastels… all of it. you have such a great knack of pulling things together – i love these posts xx

and I… love putting them together.
If only I could put these posts together from things in my wardrobe…
Until that happens {which is never} I shall enjoy playing with Polyvore…
Totally love the bag in the first lot of pics. Popping over from from #Ibot xx

It is cute isn’t it! I built the whole outfit around that bag!
Pastels and lace are pretty, and I love that lace dress. All the outfits look lovely, but pastels make me look washed out, and I’m not a lace-wearing kind of girl.

I love that you know what suits you and what doesn’t. That is key.
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
I went on a bit of a shopping extravaganza today and noticed the lace everywhere. All I could think was “it washes and wears so poorly”. I’m such a practical fuddy duddy! lol

Haha! That is what I think too! I have seen a few tops that look quite robust… I am also seriously thinking about that blazer… Hmmm…. thinking thinking…
Love the lace, love the pastels and love this post. Thank you so much for sharing it
Oh, you are very welcome!
Thanks so much for coming by!

I can’t wear pastels close to my face… they really wash me out. But… I did see some VERY cute pastel floral jeans yesterday, they had me thinking…
Love lace but I’m not sure I can pull it off? I really love those pink jeans but I have tried on multiple pairs of coloured jeans and they just don’t work for me (bigger thighs and bum). I’ll just have to admire both of these trends on others I think! I WILL have that floral clutch. LOVE. x

Oh, the skinny jean. I have tried on some Piper Ones, Jag, Dotty, Just Jeans, and Jay Jays… they just don’t work for me either. I am 1) short, 2) heavier than I should be, 3) big thighs and butt {thanks to Dutch genes} and 4) fussy. I bought some bright red ones a size bigger than usual at Target yesterday, they are higher in the waist and go over all my lumpy bits. For $30 they will add a splash of colour into my spring wardrobe…
LOVE both the pink and the green! Oh dear – I can feel a shopping trip coming on thanks to you! lol!
But really – I just looked at my wardrobe full of black, grey and other dark winter colours…and I am so ready to step into spring! I am digging teh pastels – although the lace may take me a bit more time to get used to. It’s really pretty – but I don’t know if it is me.
I am not sure if it is me either, but I have to say, that the blazer is on a wish list over at Polyvore. It is only about $40… that is a bargain, and it is sooooo cute!
I’m not sure that Lace and pastel is going to work for me this summer! I have a growing bump that just isn’t going to be pretty LOL Oh well. I guess I’ll save some money!
I bet you will look glowingly GORGEOUS! You could sneak in a little lace somewhere, surely! *wink*
Mmm, think I prefer the neon choices. Pastel and lace is so Material girl Madonna or Debbie Harry from Blondie, that is if you are old enough to know who they are??? I’ve seen some nice lace tops at Katies lately, but my wardrobe is overflowing (Ist world problem!!) so I really can’t justify any more expenses. Unless there is a really good sale on somewhere…..
I actually meant to say flouro choices from last week, not neon!
Haha! Same thing – different word…
I remember them!
I have just done a MAJOR cull of my wardrobe, so … I can use a few things to fill it up again! Need to get back into running first though – darn it!
