Fashion: Scarf Tying

I am a living contradiction at the moment…

I am so happy that it is Spring – BUT – I still want to wear my scarves!

I love my scarves – BUT – having worn most of them to death through Winter, I want MORE!

Here are two of my favourite scarves…

This orange one was given to me by Miss A for Mother’s Day… It is bright and sunny and … well… orange…

This is another fav scarf… I snaffled this up from a Target markdown and down again rack for around $2… My mum thought it was a ridiculous purchase, but, I have worn it so much! It is soft jersey and the colour is great with almost anything. It was one of those impulse buys that has come good… {for once}.

But… they need something MORE to bring then into Spring’s deep desire for over the top colour….

So… on a whim a few weeks ago, I was getting dressed and thought, I want the grey but also wanted some colour – so I tried it on with another of my favourite scarves, a cotton watermelon scarf… Hmmm… the colours looked great, but… having that much fabric flowing around would have driven me nuts….

So I did THIS!

Some simple knots gave me some new texture and new life to my scarves! Love!

So…. then I pulled out my orange scarf and knotted it with my hot pink and orange pashmina….

I am loving the colour and texture that a few simple knots can give an outfit… These are simple granny knots. I bet there are some tricky people out there who could do some groovy knots, or if you had three scarves, you could plait them! Oh, the potential!

Here are some tips….

1. DO – choose scarves that are around the same length

2. DON’T – be too matchy matchy – go for colour!

3. DO – choose different textures and fabrics

4. DON’T – forget to add some more accessories! Beads, bracelets, earrings… You want to look like you have a ‘look’ after all!

So… are you going to give #scarftying a try?

Snap a pic on Instgram or Twitter and tag it to @bbeingcool…

I would sooooo love that!

  2. Must try harder, I find scarves fall into my cups of tea and flap around and get in the way. All winder I wore fleeces that zipped up high on the neck. But I do love the look of a scarf, and always in for a splash of colour.

Summer scarves are the loveliest anyways… Becuase they are totally unnecessary…

  10. I’m with Bossy Mummy, I spend ages searching for the perfect scarf and watch endless youtube videos trying to get the look I want. A little obsessive maybe, but worth it. My scarves don’t stay in my possession for long though – I have two teenage daughters with a penchant for wearing my clothes.

    • Oh, my daughters take my scarves too… They turn into slings and baby carriers and dog leashes. Sigh. Are you telling me that that doesn’t end? Darn. I need to stock up on scarves!

  11. You know I actually don’t even own a scarf. Cause I live in the tropics, and why would you? 😉
