Fashion: What I Wore:: Sunday – Verily Missi

I fell in love with a dress a few months ago. Nikki Parkinson featured it on her blog Styling You – when she visited New York, and looked amazeballs. Click here to check it out…

Can you tell why I love it so?

It is made by the label ‘Verily’. A small design label on the Sunshine Coast here in beautiful Queensland.  I love Leonie’s style, the cut of her dresses and the colours she chooses are just so… right. You might remember I featured another of her dresses a little while ago.

I decided I really needed to have this Missi dress for myself.

I actually wear it a lot more than I thought I would. It is a kind of elastic knit, which means it is completely see through. So you really need the slip underneath it!

Here are the details of how I wore it today…

Let me tell you more about how versatile this dress is…

  • I have worn it on a plane and was comfortable and unwrinkled the whole flight. I had to meet some ‘heavies’ and did not feel underdressed in the least. It also folds down to be very small, ideal for travel.
  • I have worn it with a long sleeved T and leggings underneath {with the tunic as well} and was ever so cosy in those undpredictable midseason temperature changes.
  • I have worn it over my ‘C’ dress… You know… the one Mrs Woog wrote about…
  • I have worn it for dinner dates, for work, for school functions and today I wore it to a wedding {I was just sneaka-peeking in the back ;-) }.

It can be worn dressed up or down. I haven’t tended to add too many accessories as the dress is so striking, I haven’t wanted to take away from it. But, a long silver necklace or some coloured beads would look fab. I make sure I put on a nice splash of colour on my lips and some extra mascara for that ‘dressed up’ feeling.

Every time I wear this dress I get loads of compliments. It is rather striking. I think it hides a LOT of lumps and bumps, the fabric is floaty but not clingy and the pattern is like a walking pixelator meaning that it is constantly changing and moving. I love that!

The ‘Missi’ dress comes in two lenghts, Nikki was wearing the longer version, but I am a bit short, I didn’t want something that would drag on the ground, so I chose the shorter length…

This dress will be a regular feature of my Summer wardrobe… I am beginning to get excited about summer and have started the self tanning, toenail polishing in readiness! Yay!

Why not use the link in my sidebar to find the Missi Dress and other great dresses made by Verily!

I did not get paid to write this post, and I purchased it myself. All opinions are my own. I get asked about it all the time, so I thought I would share it out!

Oh, and thank you to my lovely Miss A – who is seven – for taking the photos… What a proud blogging mummy moment!

  4. Oh, you do look lovely! I must get my hands on a Verily slip. I have a Verily dress but can’t really wear it without the slip. The B String bra thing I bought (from your sidebar link) is pretty awesome though!
