Miscellany #1: Girl Not Gone

I am still here.           I don’t really know what else to say. This year has been a crazy ride. New job for the hubster. Baby into kindy. Ankle surgery. Recovery. New full time job for me. Parents moving away. More parents leaving. Friends changing. Friends NOT changing. New car. New fridge. Old typewriter. New skills. Life. It has been a year we won’t be forgetting in a hurry. I thought I would put out a {Read More}

Deep Sunday – Photographing Rabbits

There was a morning a few weeks ago where I found myself sitting at our dining table looking out at our ‘hill’. Our house is built into the side of a hill, so from most rooms of the house we have wonderful views of trees and the mountainside. I was siting with my cup of tea, looking out at the swooshing leaves and towering trees when movement caught my eye. Into my view hopped a magnificent rabbit. It was not {Read More}

What am I about: What gives me energy?

  Energy… This is something that seems to ebb and flow isn’t it? Sometimes energy is high and life is buoyant and fun and things get kicked off the to do list. When energy is low, things go down hill fast, things start piling up and the to do list gets longer and longer. It is good to be reminded about what things gives me energy, so that I can top up on those things that add zest to my {Read More}

What am I about: What are my passions?

  I have been feeling really challenged lately to start taking myself seriously. I have a way of fobbing off praise and I have a way of downplaying what I do, thinking that everyone does the things I do. I have always been taught that the highest aspiration for us all is to be ‘normal.’ I have always struggled with this notion that I would have to try to ‘be normal,’ is it even a thing? In the challenge to {Read More}

What am I about: What experiences (good and bad) have I had?

I am in the middle of a ‘Clarity Challenge’ here at bbbeingcool. I began with some honesty. Then I shared about what I am interested in.   My blogging path has had its highs and lows and its doldrums and stormy seas. All of these things have been mirrored by my real life. The past two years have been two of the toughest years of my life. Loneliness, illness, directionless, big things bubbling away in the background to do with {Read More}

Mother’s Day – Lessons From Oma

  I haven’t shared too much about all that I learnt during my ankle surgery recovery. To say I learnt a lot is kind of an understatement, I learnt about creativity, I learnt about being still, I learnt the value of listening and I learnt about friendships. I will share more about what I learnt while being still over the next little while. Today, in Australia, it is mother’s day. A day for cold tea and burnt toast, a day {Read More}

Goodbye Rainbow Unicorns

Well… *B lets out a big breath* here I am… back again. Life has a way of sitting you on your butt and forcing you to think and think and think, doesn’t it? I had surgery (ankle reconstruction) nearly 4 weeks ago now. It has been quite an interesting time of healing and reflection and crochet. I haven’t posted much here, thanks to some fairly epic pain drugs that addled my brain. The joke around here was that I was {Read More}

Generosity – Part 1

So… I have had my ankle reconstructed. You can read about it all here…  I just thought I would share how we have been faring since then. Firstly, I am in a bit of shock. I had no idea how impacting this operation would be. I know that probably sounds dumb, but I did not realise that I was not to put any weight down onto my foot. Neither did I fully appreciate how difficult it would be to get {Read More}

The Story Of The Ankle

So… the ankle… MY foot… let me tell you the story… It begins with a cat… Back at the turn of the century, my cat was in a fight and developed an infection above his eye. I had to take him to the vet. When carrying the cat in a precarious cardboard box into the vet clinic, I fell into a small pot hole in the grass, and sprained my ankle. It took a while to heal, but it did. {Read More}

A few months ago, we had a ‘Bug Storm.’ These little bugs were everywhere. I thought someone was throwing pebbles at our house, but, when I walked outside, I saw thousands upon thousands of these little bugs flying and crashing about. Before the ‘Bug Storm,’ the weather had been so hot and dry, then… a morning of delicious rain brought on the hatching of these bugs. The bugs themselves were beautiful. Kahki green with fabulous orange underbellies. I googled and {Read More}
