The Benefits of Using a VDA Agreement

June 26, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

One critical element which shouldn’t be ignored when it comes to your business’ operations and finances are your business’s taxes. Particularly your business sales taxes. While you may currently believe that it’s highly unlikely that the government and your state will find out about any backdated taxes which you have failed to pay, the truth is that many businesses of all sizes are regularly audited by independent auditors. Who will comb through a business’s financial records with a fine-tooth comb in order to find any evidence that a business has failed to pay taxes which they were due to pay.

If you are interested in finding out about how using a VDA agreement in order to pay your business’ overdue taxes, without being heavily financially penalized can help your business, you’ve come to the right place. Simply continue reading to discover some of the key benefits of opting to negotiate a VDA agreement for your business’ benefit:

The benefits of using a VDA agreement:

You can receive penalty abatements:

You are probably aware that there are steep fines that are dished out to businesses who do not pay their taxes such as their sales taxes. But what you may not be aware of is the fact that if you negotiate a VDA agreement with favorable terms, that you may receive valuable abatements on these potential fines. This means that you won’t be made to pay any late penalties and instead will only need to pay the principle of your backdated tax. However, you will also have to pay tax on your outstanding tax. So the more years that you wait to negotiate a VDA the more tax that you’ll actually end up paying. So when possible, make sure to pay your late taxes within 1-2 years, instead of waiting 3-4 years to pay the taxes due. So that you’ll pay less interest.

You can negotiate the terms of your agreement with your state:

Whether you’re trying to negotiate tax abatements on sales tax in your state or another state in which your business is deemed a nexus which has a large financial interest in another state, you’ll have the power to negotiate the terms of your VDA’s agreement with the state in question. If you’re worried that they may not be open to accepting the terms of your agreement, the good news is that in most cases they are open to accepting business terms as at the end of the day all that they want is their tax and don’t want to get into lengthy disputes with countless businesses. Which is obviously not in their best interests.

You can apply for a VDA agreement anonymously:

One reason that some business owners don’t apply for a VDA in order to handle their taxes is that they falsely assume that their name and their business’ name will need to be on the application. However, you can choose to remain anonymous.

So if you are scared about the potential ramifications of not sorting out taxes which your business owes your state or other states from the past 3-4 years it’s worth negotiating a VDA.

12 Pranks To Try The Next Time You Go Camping

June 24, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

Sometimes people need to take a break from their urban lives and go out to see nature. Camping is done for many different reasons. Some people want to bond with friends and family, some want to train for girl and boy scouts, some want to do special activities to stay fit. In contrast, some couples just want to take their relationship to the next level by spending time in the woods. Different people have different feelings about camping. Some people look forward to it, some think it’s a bore. In contrast, some think it’s a suicide mission (which we think we need to blame the slasher films and serial killers of the ’80s for this sinister impression when it comes to pranking.)

The common ground of people going to camps is they are like a visitor to an unknown territory. They don’t live there. Hence the tents, the insect repellants, and other camp supplies and equipment they brought with them. When people are unfamiliar with things, it would just be fun to make fun of their innocence in any opportunity that presents itself!

With that, we listed down 12 pranks that you can do the next time you go camping with friends, family, or even your significant other! Keep reading to find out.

The Wolf’s Bag Prank

Remember that story of Little Red Riding Hood where she stuffed the Big Bad Wolf with rocks? It’s kind of what this prank is supposed to look like. Except we won’t be dealing with wolves here or surgeries – just rocks. If someone’s been extra naughty or has been annoying you during camping, gather many stones and stuff their wrong with it. Make sure to not overdo it so as to not make them suspicious. Make sure to Leave the rocks less visible as possible when they open their bag. We mean you should put it in between shirts, or if you can, just leave the rocks at the bottom of the bag.

Prank Call

Just pray for a good reception when you are going camping because prank calls are always an excellent way to go! If you haven’t tried prank calling using a prank call app yet, you should definitely try Ownage Pranks! They offer a bunch of fun stuff like automatic prank calls, spoof calls, and prank requests. If you want something quick and straightforward, you may try their automatic prank calls, where you can just simply choose from their fun selection of pranks performed by their exciting selection of Ownage Pranks characters. We really can’t say enough about it because you need to try the fun to know what the deal is. Thank us later!

Locked Tent Prank

Isn’t it incredible that things as small as a paperclip can be capable of such a hilarious practical joke? To do this prank, you will be needing one of those. Yup, just one. When your victims are sleeping inside a tent, use the pin to lock the zippers together. When they try to open it, you will eventually hear them screaming and begging for you to extend the tent for them.

Birdy Morning Prank

Remember when Hansel and Gretel left a trail of breadcrumbs to not lose track of their location? That didn’t work well, did it? The birds came pecking at the breadcrumbs, and they eventually lost their way. You need to learn from this classic tale when making a camping prank. If someone annoys you in a camp, or you just want to wake someone up with a bunch of birds in their sleeping area – leave a bunch of breadcrumbs outside their tent just before the sun rises. Imagine how annoyed they will be if they wake up with many birds flocking towards their tiny quarters. It will be a bonus if at least one of the birds takes a morning dump in the same area!

Fake Snakes Prank

Snakes shouldn’t be a surprise, especially if you are spending time in the woods. But hey, people have their innate fight or flight response anyway, so why not take advantage of this? Before coming to your campsite, get a realistic-looking fake snake from your local novelty stores or any store you have access to. Something of the size of a young boa or a python will do. Next, pack a fishing net because this will come in handy. Once you’ve set an eye on a victim, place the fake snake at the end of the fishing pole and let it drop immediately before their eyes. Trust us, they won’t think anymore about where it’s coming from because they’ll be running in fear already!

Scary Animals Approaching Prank

Like the previous prank, you will need to prepare beforehand for this. Download or record a bunch of realistic animal sounds. Find something that sounds like it’s from afar and slowly getting closer. Bear or wolf sounds would be perfect! In the night, where everyone is seemingly asleep and quiet, play this and wait for at least one to notice and panic. They won’t blame you for this because you’re already pretending to be sound asleep by then!

Sleeping With Pinecones Prank

If you think, fallen pine cones are of no use anymore but to decay and decompose in the ground – well, think again. You can gather some pointy ones and leave them in your victim’s sleeping bag. If they use the type of sleeping bag with a zipper in the middle, you can try putting that in. It’ll be a little cruel, especially if they have extra thin sleeping bags. But hey, you’re the best judge if they deserve that prank or not!

Blacked Out Prank

After bonfires, you may want to keep some ash and charcoal with you and use it to rub at the end of binoculars, sunglasses, and other dark things! Your victims will be surprised why they don’t see anything when they try to look into these eye instruments. And you? You will just be laughing in the corner like the sneaky little thing that you are!

Falling Spider Prank

Like snakes, spiders can also trigger anyone’s flight or fight response – especially if they are those gigantic and hairy ones like a tarantula! Really, your victims wouldn’t think twice about running away anymore because if they were real, they could already sting them in a minute or less. How will you do this? It’s pretty simple. Find a picnic table in the camp that you want to mess with. (This will work best if you are into prank wars.) You don’t necessarily need a fishing rod, but that too may help. We understand that not everyone has access to those, so you can just improvise by getting a string as thin as possible that may closely resemble a spider web. Find a tree near the table and let it hang in one of the branches. When you think of the perfect timing to drop the fake spider, simply just let the string go and let the spider fall into your victim’s picnic table.

Skeletons On Tree Prank

Okay, you might think this may be a little too extra just for a camping prank, but, well – it is. Suppose you are the kind of person who has used fake skeletons as a Halloween prop. In that case, you can maximize its use by casually leaving it hanging by a tree. Now, to make the prank work, ask your friend for a favor, or invite them to take a little walk outside at night. Really, just any reason for them to see that creepy little surprise you have hanging by a tree. And that’s it! The rest of the prank is for you to enjoy!

Monkey See Monkey Do Prank

Do you sometimes notice that when someone starts looking up in the sky in an interesting manner, people start looking up to see what is up too? It’s a legitimate thing that people do. So in a camping setup, try scratching your head and pretending you found something in it. You might need little acting skills to look convincingly disturbed and you’ll see people scratching their heads to look for little creatures too!

Fake Poop Prank

A poop prank always works because people no longer disgusted by this thing. Leave some fake poop in one of your campmate’s bags and let them think that an animal came inside just to do the deed in their belongings. It would be funny just to see them get so annoyed by something that isn’t real!

And these are 12 hilarious pranks you can do when you are out camping. Found anything on the list you’re excited to try yet? We’re excited for you to try it too. Just remember to keep it safe! Good luck and happy pranking!

Are you camping to look after your health more and to stay fit? Cool! You can learn more about health and fitness ideas here. Go check it out!

Data Governance Framework

June 23, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

If you know how important it is to address your business’s data governance needs, your very next step should be to design a well-thought-out, strategic data governance framework. That will ensure that your business’ data management protocols will assist each of your business departments access the information which they require to make wise, quick decisions in an efficient manner.

What is a data governance framework and how can it affect your business?

Your first question may be a simple one. What is a data governance framework? Simply put it’s a detailed plan, which stipulates how your business’ data will be used and stored throughout its lifetime. From the moment that it’s first acquired to the end of its life. As it should be 100% clear how each type of data is obtained, how it travels through your business’ framework, and how it is disposed of or stored at the end of its life span.

How to get started in order to update your data governance framework:

If you’re curious about how to get started, you can’t go wrong by creating clear, defining goals, and setting exact parameters for your data governance protocols. For example, your goals should ensure that your business can make confident, well-informed business decisions based on the data that your business has acquired during the span of your business. As well as in the last 24 hours, week and month. As data from the past as well as current, up-to-date data can prove invaluable for your business. No matter whether your business is a small business, a medium-sized business, or a large international business.

Ask the head manager of each of your departments for the information which they require:

It’s well worth asking the head manager of each of your business’ departments for the critical pieces of information that they’d like to have access to in order to run their respective departments as efficiently as possible. Especially if your managers are often required to make quick, critical decisions that can affect the future growth of your business. Once you know the information each manager requires access to, you’ll be able to select data storage solutions that will provide each manager with the key information which they have asked for.

Make sure that data is assigned to a department or a manager:

One way to ensure that your data is securely held is to ensure that each type of data is assigned to a specific department or manager. As there should not be any data which has no ownership and may not be protected accurately or kept in a storage solution that is not maintained properly and has potential data or security leaks that you should avoid.

In conclusion, if you are interested in taking responsibility for your business’ data and want to transform your business for the better, it’s a great idea to analyze your business’ data governance framework in depth. Especially if it’s been a long time since you’ve taken a serious critical look at your data governance framework. Which should be assessed at least on an annual basis.

The Future of Creative and Bennet Schwartz

June 16, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

Bennet Schwartz is an industry veteran and has a wealth of experience working as a creative director in both the United States and Sydney, Australia. Throughout his career, Schwartz has produced high-quality work for a wide variety of prominent businesses in both countries. As a result of his extensive industry experience, Schwartz is able to predict future trends in the creative industry such as the rising popularity of freelancing and the likelihood of government industries influencing the industry in the coming years.

The Future of Creative and Bennet Schwartz:

Freelancing will increase in popularity:

As the last few years have shown, freelancing as an option for creatives will only continue to increase in popularity. Especially as international companies are now able to easily outsource their work to talented professionals around the world and are no longer limited to hiring individuals in certain cities. As a result, the top creatives will be able to work for global companies from anywhere in the world and will be able to command larger sums of money. As successful global companies will be willing to pay competitive salaries for the right individuals who are able to produce outstanding work.

Governments around the world will implement more industry governing regulations:

One trend that Bennet Schwartz has picked up on, is how governments around the world, particularly governments in western countries such as Australia and the United States are looking to implement more industry governing regulations. Unfortunately, these regulations may make it more difficult for individuals who are looking to join the freelance sector to make a viable living. While more well-established freelancers who already make a decent living should be able to continue making a living via remote working. As they’ll already have an established customer base that won’t be too adversely affected by brand new industry regulations that are designed to make it less attractive for newcomers to start working for themselves.

It will be quicker for creatives to complete their projects:

Bennett Schwartz also predicts that due to the latest computer processors and graphic cards, it won’t take nearly as long for creatives to finish their digital projects. For example, as a result of the latest graphics cards, it’s already a whole lot faster to render projects than it used to be. Which allows creatives to finish a greater volume of projects, in the same amount of time.

Subscription services are set to become even more commonplace:

While in the past creatives could purchase software outright, now most software companies require individuals to pay for subscriptions to use software such as PhotoShop. So unfortunately many creatives may find that their production costs may rise as a result of having to pay monthly fees for a wide variety of software programs.

So if you admire Bennet Schwartz’s projects of successful career and are interested in his predictions for the creative design industry, hopefully, you found his predictions which are listed above fascinating. Especially if you operate a business in the creative field or are looking to become a creative director like Schwartz!

A Guide to Materials Management and Inventory Optimization

June 15, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

As a business owner or a high-level manager, it’s important to strategize carefully in order to manage your materials effectively and to ensure that your business’s inventory is adequately optimized. As examples, you’ll learn how to transport your materials more efficiently and how to keep track of your materials digitally. You’ll even discover how to keep your stockroom well organized and how to get rid of items that aren’t moving quickly.

A guide to materials management and inventory optimization:

Think about transporting your materials efficiently:

Pay attention to the journey which your materials take. For example, if a third party supplies raw materials which are used in a factory to create your business’ products, make sure that your business selects the most trustworthy yet cost-effective method of shipping your raw materials from their original source to your factory and from your factory to your stores or distribution centers. As if you’re able to decrease the transportation costs which are associated with transporting your raw materials, you’ll be able to decrease your production costs which will allow you to increase your business’ profits.

It may be a wise idea to ring other transportation companies for a no-obligation quote, to ensure that the prices that you are currently paying to transport your materials is a fair, competitive price. As you can always decide to swap the transport companies which your business deals with.

Make sure that you’re able to track your materials digitally:

Throughout every step of your materials’ journey with your business, you should be able to track the exact whereabouts of all of your business materials. For example, if you look up the reference number for a shipment of raw materials, you should be able to find out exactly where your shipment is at any point in time. Even if your shipment is on the road from one facility to another.

Make sure to clean out your inventory on a regular basis:

If you notice on your systems that there is particular inventory that isn’t moving and has been sitting in your stores or warehouses for far longer than you originally estimated, it may be a good idea to either run an online sale to get rid of your excess stock. Or to simply get rid of your stock, in order to free up valuable storage room for products that sell quickly and won’t be a liability to your business.

Market your items so that they fly off the shelves:

One way to ensure that items don’t stay on your shelves or in your supply room for too long is to invest time, money, and energy into promoting new products and collections. So that your potential customers are well aware of the new products which your business is offering.

So if you’re always looking for fresh new ways to increase your business’ profits, it’s well worth taking a look at how you manage your materials and your business’ inventory. In order to streamline both processes for the betterment of your business.

Everything That You Need to Know About IPX and the Pix Network

June 10, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

If you’re interested in learning about how internal networks work and how ipx and the pix network are used in IT, simply continue reading to discover everything that you need to know about ipx technology and the pix network. Both of which are integral to understanding how internal networks function. As ipx and pix networks are a lot easier to understand than you may assume.

Everything that you need to know about ipx and the pix network:

What is the pix network:

The acronym pix refers to the private internet exchange which is often responsible for providing essential, comprehensive firewall security which will effectively hide the architecture of an internal network from the outside world. A pix network also offers additional benefits. For example, they allow private networks to safely and securely connect to the internet and can also allow tcp and ip networks to expand without any worries about there being a shortfall of ip addresses. Which makes pix networks incredibly handy.

What are some of the key features of pix firewalls:

Now that you have a clear understanding of what pix firewalls are you may be interested in learning about some of the key features of pix firewalls. The first key feature of a pix firewall is that it will prevent potential hackers and intruders from being able to access your private internal network, without expressed permission. A pix firewall will also allow regulated access to its internal network so that features such as email and http can be used properly. A pix firewall may also provide a valuable network translation system that will effectively allow a website to share one or more unique ip addresses with a large number of individual users.

What is ipx:

The acronym ipx is used in IT to refer to the internetwork packet exchange and was first used in the 1980s and the 1990s. Due to the fact that it was used with the commonly used Novell NetWare Network Operating System. Think of ipx as one of the digital world’s prominent internetworking protocols. However, keep in mind that after 1998 it was no longer necessary to use ipx in order to run Novell Netware Network’s new operating systems. Another reason why ipx technology was so popular is that it requires little to no configuration which can save businesses a lot of time and money.

When an ipx exchange was used the administrator of each exchange only had a couple of tasks to keep an eye on. For example, they would have to assign all servers in the network in question’s network number. They would also have to assign different network numbers to different frame formats across the same network.

In conclusion, if you’re interested in how internal networks work and curious about what ipx exchanges and what pix networks are, hopefully, you have found all the vital information which you’ve been looking for! Especially if you have a keen interest in IT and love learning about how internal networks function.

Marketing and Customer Lifetime Value

June 6, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

If you’re currently working on coming up with an effective digital marketing plan for your eCommerce business, it’s important to understand what your business’ customer lifetime value is and how it can affect your business.

Marketing and Customer Lifetime Value:

What is customer acquisition cost formula:

Your customer acquisition cost is the total amount, on average that it costs your business to obtain a brand new customer. Keep in mind that this cost should include any applicable agency fees.

Why is your customer acquisition cost important:

If you discover that your customer acquisition cost is fairly high, you should work out your customer lifetime value in order to ensure that you get as much money out of each of your customers as possible.

What is your customer lifetime value:

If you’ve never heard of your customer lifetime value, simply put it’s the number of revenue that your business will obtain from a single customer throughout their lifetime. In general, you should try to increase your customer lifetime value so that you’ll be able to increase your profits without having to pay a high overhead in order to obtain brand new customers. As it’s a whole lot easier to retain customers who have already made a purchase through your business than to try and obtain brand new customers who have no history with your brand, business, products, or services.

How to convince your customers to continue dealing with your business:

If you’re curious as to how to retain your past and current customers, one answer is to focus your efforts on digital marketing techniques. For example, it’s well worth concentrating on creating effective marketing emails which you can send to individuals who have placed an order with your business in the past. As these individuals already have shown an interest in your business and its products and services and are highly likely to be tempted to make future orders with your eCommerce business.

Remember that in order to send highly effective marketing emails it’s important to personalize your emails using automated email software as if potential customers see their real first name in the subject area of your emails, they’ll be far more likely to make a purchase through your website. Also make sure that your marketing emails contain attractive, eye-catching photos as humans are visual creatures and will be far more interested in your brand new products, than if you were simply to write about your new products.

Use email analytics to see how well your marketing emails perform:

Don’t make the mistake of sending out your marketing emails only to forget about them. As if you use email analytics software in order to see how successful your emails are, you’ll be able to see which email techniques work and have a high click-through rate and conversion rate and which of your email marketing tips are ineffective and should be forgotten.

So if you’re interested in increasing your customer lifetime value and retaining as many of your current eCommerce customers as possible, it’s a great idea to action all of the tips which are listed above!

Can I Sell My House For Cash

May 19, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

Buying a house is one of the most significant financial decisions a person makes in their lifetime and, unless you’re a seasoned professional, selling one doesn’t get any easier.

Every year, thousands of people sell their houses. Over 5.34 million existing homes sold out in 2019 in the U.S. alone (not to mention the 682,000 newly constructed ones that also made a sale). If you’re thinking of putting your house on the market, you have to be prepared to face a lot of competition.

Depending on the state of your house, you could go down the traditional route of commissioning a real estate agent and waiting for the perfect buyer to come along. But what if you need to sell your house in a hurry? It could be an anxiety-inducing endeavor, especially if you aren’t used to it.

In such instances, you might want to consider selling your house for cash instead.

While some are just looking for a good deal, cash buyers are typically real estate investors or house-for-cash companies. They make cash offers with as little interference as possible and make renovations on properties to turn into higher profit later.

They usually buy houses in the state they’re currently in. Therefore, making the sale process move on much faster. You can be less invested in making the property more appealing for open houses or negotiating the best price for its market value. You could also save money on expenses such as commission fees, structural and cosmetic renovation, and, in some instances, closing costs.

You can also opt to stay in your house longer if you need to. Since the selling process is more straightforward, you could have more time to prepare all the paperwork for your move. It could be a huge deal if you have to move in a hurry but haven’t had the time or opportunity to find a place to move in. As long as you work out a clear deal over the details of your move, you would be able to stay in your place until you’re ready to move out.

However, there are still risks involved with selling directly to cash buyers. Cash transactions aren’t allowed in some areas in the U.S. due to the convenience of laundering money by hiding it among expenses associated with property expenses. Because of this, there are some things you need to keep in mind if you’re interested in selling your house for cash, such as finding a legitimate cash buyer and limiting your liability.

Cash buyers that work under legitimate house-flipping companies advertise the types of seller profiles they’re looking for, such as those whose listings have expired, houses in danger of being foreclosed, and so on. Their information should also be easy to verify, and an easily recognizable logo should accompany their contact numbers.

You can also limit risk by consulting with an attorney when you decide on a cash buyer to sell to. Even if you don’t quite need a lawyer during negotiations, consulting with a local attorney will help address any important legal questions you have and clarify any vague or unclear terms in your agreement to avoid future headaches.

There are many ways to sell your home and even more reasons to do so. Whether you choose to go forward with a traditional selling process or cash-for-home companies, be sure to research the process thoroughly to see what best suits your needs.

Why Your Business Needs a Digital Certificate

May 17, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

Whether you’ve just launched a brand new business and are looking at acquiring certificate lifecycle management for your growing online business or you’re considering whether to renew your digital certificate which is set to expire soon, you’ve come to the right place. As if you continue reading, you’ll be able to learn about why it’s critical for your business to have a current digital certificate.

Why Your Business Needs a Digital Certificate:

To prevent hackers from trying to access your business’ sensitive information:

One of the most significant reasons why it’s important to ensure that your business always has an up-to-date digital certificate is in order to do your due diligence and to prevent would-be hackers from trying to access some of your business’s sensitive information. For example, you don’t want hackers to gain intel on your business’s financial accounts or to be able to hack the log-in codes to your business’ bank accounts.

To safeguard the privacy of visitors to your business’ website:

Another influential reason why you should always ensure that your business has a current digital certificate is in order to effectively safeguard the privacy of visitors to your business’ website. Especially if you process online sales through your website and you want to ensure that your customers’ sensitive data such as their personal details and credit card details aren’t stolen by a less than trustworthy third party.

To increase consumer confidence in your business:

If your potential new customers and current customers see that your business boasts a current digital certificate their consumer confidence in the trustworthiness and legitimacy of your online business should increase dramatically. As savvy online customers often look for digital certificates in order to ensure that each site that they want to visit is secure and that their personal details will remain secure. In fact, some users’ browsers will actually warn them if they try to visit a website that doesn’t have a digital certificate and is a potential security risk or only has an outdated digital certificate.

Keep in mind that if individuals see that your business keeps up to date with its digital security measures, they’ll be far more likely to be interested in doing business with your online company. Who in their right mind would trust a business with their personal details, if the business has no idea that its digital certificate has long since expired? As if a business allows their digital security certificates to expire, it’s unlikely that they’re managing their business well and are likely to be neglecting other facets of their digital business too.

To verify the identities of individuals and businesses during monetary transactions:

Lastly, another key reason why it’s important for businesses to purchase digital certificates is in order to verify the identities of individuals during day-to-day monetary transactions.

So what are you waiting for? Your business definitely has a need for digital certificates and there’s no better time than the present to purchase a digital certificate or to renew a certificate which is due to expire in the next month.

6 Ways Cold Weather can Affect Your Roof

May 5, 2021 by Jeff Leave a Comment

During the cold months of the year, or even other anomaly patches of cold, the cold weather can affect your roof in many ways.

Here are 6 of the most common ways in which cold weather can affect your roof. If you spot any of the indications mentioned, make sure to get in touch with Roofers near me so that you can ensure the structural safety of your home.

1. Issues with drainage

Any blockages in your guttering can lead to drainage issues. Gutters can easily become clogged with various debris, like leaves, branches, moss, and sludge.

This is therefore more likely to happen during the cooler months of the year, especially autumn or fall, as many trees shed their leaves in order to survive harsh weather conditions.

When your drains are left blocked over time, this can lead to water damage.

2. Water damage

As well as a side effect of drainage issues, water damage can occur on your roof due to heavy rainfall.

In both instances, water can begin to collect in pools on your roof, entering under your roof tiles, and cause major structural damage within your home.

This includes everything from mould and mildew to rotten beams and damaged foundations.

3. Ice damage

During cold weather, water damage can also take on another form, as when the water turns to ice this can affect your roof in a whole host of other ways.

When water freezes, it starts to expand. Thus, if water turns to ice in a crack in your roof, the ice can make the crack larger. When this repeatedly happens, this is called freeze-thaw erosion.

Over time, the repeated freezing and thawing of water on your roof during cold weather can cause major damage to the tiles on your roof.

4. Snow damage

Snow damage is a more common occurrence on flat roofs. This is because if snow settles on a flat roof, it cannot easily fall of the sides, and so will melt into a pool of water on your roof due to the heat emitted from your home.

That being said, you can also cause more harm than good by trying to clear snow from your roof. Using a shovel can damage shingles, as can rock salt and other defrosters.

5. Wind damage

Cold weather can be down to bracing and biting winds which have come from afar, and thus wind damage is not exclusive to the traditionally cold months of the year, though it might be more common in winter.

Wind can put stress on your roof and shingles, as well as blowing debris repeatedly into the surface. The most damage is done when you have trees nearby, as the repeated hitting of branches, or in the worst case a fallen trunk, can cause structural and cosmetic damage.

6. Thermal shock

Even when the weather starts to warm up, the cold can still affect your roof. This is down to what we call thermal shock, which is a fluctuation in temperature that causes stress in materials, especially ceramics, which often results in fracturing.

Just remember, if you spot any signs of damage to your roof, whether mentioned above or not, always get in touch with a professional by searching for Roofers near me.
